Certification: How It Works

Accredit UK is a mark of quality for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry to show that a business holding the Accredit UK mark will deliver ICT solutions to a high standard.

The Accredit UK Standard aims to improve confidence in the ICT supply chain by measuring businesses against agreed criteria and by registering certified businesses with Accredit UK.

This Standard also provides guidelines for Purchasers so that they can buy ICT solutions more effectively.

It is recognition that ICT Suppliers will have an appropriate balance of technical resources and sound processes. The business is further recognised for having skilled, experienced and qualified staff delivering ICT solutions to the levels of satisfaction expected by its Customers.

The ICT industry has been divided into individual segments. The segments have been identified as key areas within the industry. Each segment then has specialisms with a high degree of similarity in their requirements, yet distinct from other specialisms within the segment.

The Standard currently covers the following segments:

• Software Product Design and Development

• Communications (Network Design and Installation)

Businesses can be certified in one or more segments and the conformance requirements of this Standard are defined at two levels:

1. General Expectations – specifying the activities that all good ICT businesses should be practising, whatever segment they operate in;

2. Segment-Specific Expectations – applying to ICT businesses in specific segments.

Applicants in multiple segments will have to comply with the conformance requirements in each relevant Segment-Specific Expectations document.
